Le Carrousel in Bryant Park
Especially created to complement the park’s French classical style, is an homage to both European and American traditions. Its fourteen delightful animals, replicas of classic carousel creatures, revolve to the sounds of French cabaret music. The rounding boards, inspired by Bryant Park’s elegant baroque-style torchères along 40th Street, blend into the leafy canopy of the park’s plane trees.

Events in Central Park New York City 2010
Central Park is a large public, urban park in the heart of New York City and is host to approximately twenty-five million visitors each year. Central Park has been a National Historic Landmark since 1963. The park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and architect Calvert Vaux. While much of the park looks natural, it is in fact almost entirely landscaped. It contains several natural-looking lakes and ponds, extensive walking tracks, two ice-skating rinks (one of which is a swimming pool in July and August), the Central Park Zoo, the Central Park Conservatory Garden, a wildlife sanctuary, a large area of natural woods, a reservoir with an encircling running track, and the outdoor Delacorte Theater which hosts the "Shakespeare in the Park" summer festivals. 85% of the park's operating budget comes from private sources via the Central Park Conservancy, which manages the park pursuant to a contract with New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.

The 80th Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit
September 4, 5, 6, and September 11, 12, 2010
W 4th St to Waverly Pl • Greenwich Village
This twice-yearly art show along Washington Square Park has a storied history: it began in 1931, when Jackson Pollock and Willem DeKooning decided to hawk their paintings on the sidewalks to raise some rent money. In the 79 years since then, the event has become a bit more formalized; now, it’s a juried show representing more than 200 young and established artists in painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media and crafts. Of course, you can still purchase a piece and help an up-and-coming artist pay the rent!
